Electrically driven 5-axis vise

The KONTEC KSX-E is a 100% electrically driven 5-axis vise with infinitely programmable clamping stroke. Controlled via spring contacts at the bottom or a side-mounted wired connector, programmable parameters such as clamping force, clamping stroke, or jaw position can be controlled at the same time and transferred and evaluated via the integrated IO-Link interface to the machine control unit. In the future, it should be possible to transfer and set the data via wireless communication or cable to an app.
A large clamping range up to 420mm and pre-positioning of the jaws make the KONTEC KSX-E flexible for automated machine tending with a high part variation. Due to its geometry with very high jaws, the vise provides optimal accessibility for 5-sided complete machining on 5-axis machines. The upper-lying spindle ensures the clamping force is applied directly below the workpiece and prevents the jaws from lifting. The continuously programmable clamping force up to 40kN per jaw ensures the workpiece can also be clamped process-reliably and vibration-safe even with minimal clamping surfaces. The vise also works reliably under the influence of chips, dirt, or coolant. Its complete sealing and encapsulation means electronics and actuators are also well protected.
The range of SCHUNK system and top jaws rounds off the KONTEC KSX-E package. Suitable jaws are easy to find via the digital SCHUNK chuck jaw quickfinder. SCHUNK will offer the KONTEC KSX-E in size 125.

Interchangeable center drill

Center drills are used to prevent drills walking and to maintain a chamfer on the drill diameter to ensure consistently high precision in series production.
Center drills are quick changeable and offer a high repeatability of ±0.01mm, resulting in less machine downtime. Designs range from 60° to 140° and depending on the material to be machined, various carbide grades and coatings can be applied.
The quick-change ability of the drill inserts guarantees a 40% increase in productivity. The interchangeable drills are offered in left-hand and right-hand versions, where the same holder can be used, increasing flexibility. Drill inserts are available with edge preparation to reduce possible chatter.
