Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance molded elastomer seals, has developed Perlast G77X – a perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) sealing material combining high temperature performance with exceptional low compression set.
Perlast G77X has been engineered for long term performance and durability in a range of critical applications, including chemical processing, aerospace, and in mechanical seals. The material can be molded into O-rings and custom shapes.
“The USP of Perlast G77X is its class-leading high temperature performance – up to 350°C, and with excellent response to temperature cycling effects,” says Duncan Frame, Business Line Leader for Strategic Growth at PPE. “When combined with an exceptionally low compression set over extended periods, and the chemical resistance typical of FFKM materials, Perlast G77X emerges as a strong choice for any critical high-temperature application. With the improvements in performance and reliability expected from upgrading to Perlast G77X, our customers can expect to see significant reductions in operational downtime and cost of ownership.”
“Adding Perlast G77X as the sixth member of the Perlast family of FFKM sealing materials is a big deal," says Stuart Campton, Strategic Market Development Leader for Fluorinated Products at PPE. "It means that whatever temperatures or chemistries are involved, PPE can offer a high-performance material grade which will exceed expectations. Whether that’s Perlast G90LT for high pressures and low temperatures, or Perlast G74S for food contact applications, the Perlast family now represents a comprehensive sealing solution when failure is not an option. What’s more, we’ve also tested Perlast G77X externally to AMS 7257 Rev E, and the material will be listed on the PRI-QPL database. This compliance is hugely significant to our aerospace customers, as alongside PPE’s Nadcap and AS 9100D audits and certifications, we can give full peace of mind that Perlast G77X won’t let them down.”
PPE has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by equipment manufacturers and operators in critical high temperature applications. This knowledge feeds into the development of innovative material grades like Perlast G77X, which deliver long term sealing performance under temperature extremes, while demonstrating industry-leading low compression set. PPE is always working to develop better performing sealing materials to help customers find those marginal gains in performance, reliability, or economy. The expansion of the Perlast family with Perlast G77X is just the latest example.
